This project is a device for making "environmental" wind sounds. "So what's the big deal?", I hear you cry. "Stuff like that is available all over, cheap." So it is. However, what's different about this one, and what goaded me into designing it, is that the common units all use a digitally recorded loop a few seconds long, repeating over and over again. Close listening can often detect an anomalous "tink" where the loop rejoins itself. I found this unbearably irritating. The design presented here uses pure analog formant synthesis, and will never exactly repeat itself.

This project is under development. It should be done around, say, 1-20-2004.

    Update! I have now decided to implement this thing, not through analog circuitry, but with a µP to generate the basic noise and most of the control signals, and perhaps a switched-capacitor bandpass filter to replace the twin-T. The "repitition problem" will still not be an issue, since it's actually pretty easy to generate sequences that take centuries to complete, by which time even the most indefatigable of listeners will likely have lost interest. Stand by while I accumulate the necessary hardware.
